During the summer of 2004, the founders of the Georgia Tech Colony of Alpha Omega Epsilon met with the common interest of starting an engineering sorority at Georgia Tech. They worked hard, gathering materials and members over the summer to petition for a colony on campus. As with all fledgling organizations, they had their setbacks, but triumphed on August 28, 2004 by inducting eight founding members. The founders had high expectations and goals for the Georgia Tech Colony of Alpha Omega Epsilon, and petitioned the international organization to found a chapter in May 2004. In October 2004, the colony began philanthropic work with the Atlanta Humane Society. In February 2006, the Georgia Tech Colony of Alpha Omega Epsilon was officially inducted as the Sigma Chapter of Alpha Omega Epsilon.
